The National Park of Gran Sasso-Monti della Laga culminate with the spectacular rocky massif of the Gran Sasso and includes walls of Corno Grande and Corno Piccolo. Jewel of Abruzzo, Atri still preserves its ancient appearance, hiding the evidence of considerable value. Built on a former church of the ninth century, the Cathedral, dedicated to St. Mary of the Assumption in 1223, still preserves the phases of the original building, built on a Roman cistern. To make it particularly attractive landscape of Atri is the presence of gullies, karst formations resulting from a particular form of erosion, now included in the Natural Reserve of the Badlands of Atri which includes 350 acres of land.

In the heart of the historic center, between the ruins of the Roman theater and amphitheater, there is the Cathedral, dedicated to Saint Berardo (1158, enlarged in the fourteenth century, with three naves; beautiful mullioned windows; portal Diodato Romano, with beautiful statues on columns side of Nicola da Guardiagrele.

Situated in the hills called the country home of ceramics Abruzzo, a treasure trove of extraordinary art of Abruzzo. The church of St. Giovanni Battista, built in 1601 in Renaissance style, features, walled up in front, the remains of the pulpit of the twelfth century, from the Abbey of St. Savior. Inside you find a wooden sculpture of the thirteenth century, depicting St. Anna Maria with child in her lap and a shovel in majolica attributed to Francesco Grue one of the largest members of the family of potters. The church and convent of the Franciscans of the seventeenth century, has a cloister with porch and pillars decorated with majolica plates, which today houses the local museum.
